Apply to join UMass Lowell’s delegation to the United Nations Climate Conference in Baku, Azerbaijan
UMass Lowell is an official ‘Observer Organization’ to the United Nations (UN) climate negotiations and sends a delegation to the UN climate negotiations and conference, or ‘Conference of Parties’ (COP) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
The 29th Conference of Parties, ‘COP29,’ will be held in November 2024 in Baku, Azerbaijan. COP29 promises to be an exciting event that brings together policymakers, scientists, innovators, educators, advocates, and the media from around the world.
The Climate Change Initiative and Rist Institute for Sustainability and Energy are excited to send a small group of faculty members and students to COP29 to represent UMass Lowell (UML) at this major international conference and negotiations focused on climate action.
Please submit the COP29 application by May 12, 2024 if you would like to join our delegation. By completing this application, you agree to commit to attending and, as a representative of UML, abiding by the COP rules of attendance.
Financial support will be available for a minimum of two student attendees. Faculty and staff are expected to cover expenses to attend, including transportation, accommodations and food. These vary by location and faculty and staff are expected to do due diligence in this regard before applying.
