Beyond the Battles, Lowell and the Civil War: A Walking Tour of Downtown Lowell

Saturday, April 28, 2012
2-3:30 p.m.

Begins at the Events Center,
Second floor, Boott Cotton Mills Museum

Have you ever wondered what happened in northern industrial cities as civil war raged far to the south? The question is especially complicated in a textile city that depended on Southern cotton.  The long battle over slavery and wage labor played an important role in the events that led to the worst war in American History.  The Civil War sesquicentennial is a fitting time to explore what was happening at the homefront with this walking tour of downtown Lowell.

Registration is required. To reserve your spot,  call 978-970-5080 or e-mail TIHC@uml.edu.

You can also register on-line, coming soon.
