Chancellor's Medals

For more than 30 years, the Chancellor’s Medals have recognized graduating students whose leadership, service, and impact embody the best of the UMass Lowell experience. These prestigious awards honor individuals who have made meaningful contributions to the university and the broader community—students who lead with purpose, upheld shared values, and inspired others to do the same.

Aligned with the goals of the UMass Lowell 2028 Strategic Plan, the Chancellor’s Medals celebrate students who reflect both the rich diversity of our community and the enduring spirit of leadership that has shaped the university for decades.

Each year’s recipients represent the next generation of changemakers—students whose integrity, empathy, and commitment strengthen UMass Lowell and the world around us.

We recognize exemplary students in the areas of Community Service, Student Service and Diversity and Inclusion. Please read through the award descriptions and eligibility carefully to ensure you are eligible to apply.

Applications open on Jan. 20, 2026. Please note that a new application must be completed for each award a student applies for and all applications (including completed recommendation letters) are due by February 20, 2026 at 4 p.m.
