Biosketch

Sokny Long currently serves as the executive assistant to the vice chancellor for Research, Innovation and Economic Development, a role she assumed in August 2022. In this position, she provides high-level administrative and operational support, including managing research assistant (RA) contracts, student fellowship and the vice chancellor’s calendar and communications. Sokny plays a key role in supporting the university’s research enterprise and fostering collaboration across academic and administrative units.

Prior to this role, Sokny worked in the Francis College of Engineering Dean’s Office, where she partnered with the associate dean of graduate programs to provide administrative support for engineering graduate programs, faculty and students. She collaborated with various campus offices to strengthen graduate student retention, streamline academic services and process assistantship contracts.

Before joining the Dean’s Office in 2017, Sokny was an administrative specialist in UMass Lowell’s Department of Public Health and the Department of Work Environment. There, she supported departmental operations and served on the Alumni and Recruitment Committees, contributing to alumni engagement and student recruitment initiatives.
