Lai’s research interest focuses on understanding of the disparity in age-related chronic diseases between individuals and populations in relation to genetic and dietary differences in human populations, with the ultimate goal of personalized and successful dietary recommendation to prevent such disease and achieve heathier aging. His current research is to identify dietary intake and lifestyle that contribute to age-related diseases risk and difference between populations, particularly cardiovascular disease, obesity and diabetes, and to foresee individual’s risk of such disease for optimal strategies for effective prevention.
