Biosketch
Maryum Zaidi, Registered Nurse (R.N.), Ph.D. investigates how health information technology (HIT) and digital tools optimize communication and reduce cognitive load workflows for patients, nurses, and other health care providers. Her research examines how HIT systems, such as electronic medical records, can streamline communication by leveraging large language models to minimize redundant documentation and fragmented tasks, thereby promoting safer, more efficient care.
Additionally, Zaidi conducts research tailored to culturally and linguistically diverse (CLD) populations, including those with limited English proficiency (LEP). Using a biopsychosocial approach, she examines the interplay among biological factors, psychological beliefs (for example: fatalism, self-efficacy), and social or structural barriers (for example: language access, immigration status) in screening and early detection contexts with an emphasis on service navigation and culturally tailored digital interventions.
