Each year, the Faculty Symposium includes several sessions of lightning talks.

Lighting talks are 90-second presentations by UMass Lowell faculty and staff about their research, teaching innovations, creative works, community engagement projects, and more. Presenters can pitch an idea, invite collaborators for an existing or future project, and provide information about a shared resource.

Format

Lightning Talk presenters have the option of preparing a PowerPoint slide that will be displayed during the 90-second presentation. Given the brevity of the presentation, a single slide is recommended. We do not recommend adding video to your slide.

Registration

Please register to present a lightning talk as soon as possible, but no later than Friday, January 30, 2026. On the form, you will be able to indicate your availability to present and submit a presentation slide, if preferred.

Presentation slots are limited so please register as soon as possible.

If you have already completed the lightning talk registration form for the original event date on December 2, 2025, you do not need to complete the form again. You should have received your session assignment. To make any adjustments to your assignment, please email Faculty_Symposium@uml.edu.

Please note: the lightning talk registration form is separate from the main Faculty Symposium registration. You should complete both forms if you would like to present a lightning talk.
