Title: Capsule Based Healing of Polymer Membranes
Researchers: Jesse Hamilton
Sponsors: U.S. Army Natick Soldier Research Development and Engineering Center
Collaborators: Triton Systems, Inc.
Description: Coatings utilizing a micro-capsule-based self-healing methodology are being developed to autonomously close and repair damage to chemical-biological protective garments. The development of novel strain recovery techniques and healing system and delivery optimization techniques will allow for more effective warfighter protection as well as setting the groundwork for improved healing efficiency in a wide range of self-healing applications.
