Whether you aspire to a leadership role on campus or in your community, or simply want to become more confident in navigating college life, you can learn how through Leaders in Action, a free series of trainings for individuals and groups.

First-year students are especially encouraged to take advantage of the individual pathway: four sessions that focus on thriving in college, managing time, thinking critically and clarifying your values, says Shaima Ragab, director of Student Affairs.

But any student can sign up for any pathway in any order – and earn a certificate for completing each one, Ragab says.

Senior public health major Monica Kong took the Leaders in Action training as a first-year student and went on to become a mentor for other first-generation college students as well as president, vice president and secretary of various campus clubs. She highly recommends it.

“Shaima Ragab was there to listen to the students and empower us and tell us that our voices mattered, on the campus and in the community,” Kong says. “It was life-changing.”
