2:30 to 4 p.m.
WHAT: More than 1,200 UMass Lowell students looking for jobs after graduation or to gain real-world experience through co-ops and internships will pitch their skills to 200 employers at the Spring Career Fair.
Ninety-five percent of UMass Lowell bachelor’s degree recipients are either employed full time or pursuing a graduate degree less than a year after earning their diplomas, according to a survey of graduates.
Many recruiters participating in the event are UMass Lowell alumni coming back to campus to hire students because they understand the quality of a UMass Lowell education. NOTE: The event is not open to the public.
Students seeking jobs – along with alumni recruiters and career counselors – are available for interviews, including:
- Diana Estrella of Nashua, N.H., a double major in peace and conflict studies and world languages who wants to land a full-time job with a nonprofit organization that advocates for social-justice causes before she graduates in May. She credits the UMass Lowell Career and Co-op Center for helping her prepare for her job search, especially through workshops on resume-writing and interview skills.
- Fjodor Merkuri of Lowell, a biology major looking for an internship that will build on his experience in genetics research with a UMass Lowell faculty member. He participates in ProPath – a unique UMass Lowell program that starts students on the road to professional success as freshmen by helping them identify career goals and gain job experience before they graduate.
- Kenneth Amici, a recruiter for Philips Healthcare in Andover and 2015 UMass Lowell graduate who credits the Career and Co-op Center for helping him get an internship with the company that turned into a full-time job after graduation.
WHERE: Tsongas Center at UMass Lowell, 300 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Lowell. Contact UMass Lowell media relations for directions and parking information.
