Lauren Turner, associate vice chancellor for human resources and equal opportunity and outreach at the University of Massachusetts Lowell, has received the College and University Professional Association for Human Resources (CUPA-HR) 2014 Donald E. Dickason Award. CUPA-HR’s highest honor, this award is named for the association’s founder and recognizes an individual for exceptional leadership and service to CUPA-HR. Thanks to the generous support of TIAA-CREF, CUPA-HR is pleased to offer a $6,000 contribution to UMass Lowell’s endowment or a scholarship fund of Turner’s choice.
Turner’s many contributions to CUPA-HR stretch over more than 15 years. Not only has she been a frequent presenter at CUPA-HR conferences and a contributor to CUPA-HR publications, but she’s also served in a number of association leadership roles, including president of the Southern New England Chapter, chair of the Eastern Region board, and on the national board of directors from 2007-13, including a term as chair in the 2011-12 fiscal year. During her tenure on the national board, Turner served on a number of committees and task forces and as chair of the communications, outreach and advocacy committee, the learning and professional development committee and the mentoring task force. During her years as chair-elect and chair, she was one of the key champions who helped begin the association’s focus on diversity, equity and inclusion, including the creation of CUPA-HR’s diversity, equity and inclusion position statement and action plan.
