We at UMass Lowell strive to advance a climate in which equity, transparency, fairness, safety and inclusion are valued so that all of our faculty, staff and students can fully engage and thrive.

The University of Massachusetts Nondiscrimination and Harassment Policy (pdf) and the UMass Lowell Nondiscrimination Guidelines incorporate standards of behavior that are consistent with the university's values. The university does not tolerate conduct that violates rights guaranteed by the law or the university's policies to all members of its community, applicants, visitors and vendors, including minors. Accordingly, the university prohibits unlawful discrimination and harassment based upon protected characteristics, and related retaliatory conduct. If the provisions of these nondiscrimination guidelines are violated, the university will take appropriate steps to end the inappropriate behavior and address its effects.

The university is committed to review and address any concerns related to potential violation of its nondiscrimination guidelines, including sexual misconduct, that affects members of our campus community. Accordingly, UMass Lowell Nondiscrimination Guidelines, Sexual Harassment Grievance Procedure, Equal Opportunity Complaint Procedure and Student Code of Conduct include the new requirements per the recently enacted Massachusetts Act and Title IX regulations.

We invite all community members to become familiar with the university’s procedures by clicking on the hyperlinks included above. Any questions about the guidelines and procedures should be directed to Clara I. Reynolds, associate vice chancellor for Equal Opportunity, Diversity and Inclusion; Title IX Coordinator.; and Section 504/ADA Coordinator; at 978-934-3565.

In addition, we encourage all employees to complete the Harassment Prevention and Title IX online training. We hope you will find this training module's content to be highly interactive, relevant, and engaging. If you have difficulty logging in to access the training module, please contact the Get Inclusive technical support team by emailing support@getinclusive.com or contact Equal Opportunity and Outreach at 978-934-3565 or via email at equal_opportunity@uml.edu.

Thank you very much for your work in establishing a safe and respectful learning and working environment here at UMass Lowell.
