UMass Lowell joins with all those in our community who denounce racist and hateful language.
While the First Amendment protects abhorrent and hateful speech, it also guarantees our right to reject and stand against it and to overwhelm messages of hate with messages of respect, equity, justice and inclusion. We affirm each individual's right to dignity and we deeply value the cultural diversity of members of the UMass Lowell community.
We thoroughly review any information provided to us and address potential violations of university policies through the university’s Equal Opportunity Complaint Procedure or the Student Code of Conduct and refer them to law enforcement officials, if applicable.
