Failure can be serendipitous. Although it seldom feels good at the time, failure can help us grow. In research, creative work and life, we often learn more when we fail than when we succeed. But fear of failure often holds us back.
On Nov. 16, the Honors College invites faculty and staff to share their most successful failures in UMass Lowell’s first Failure Showcase. Each speaker will have up to 10 minutes to share their experience of failure and resilience. The audience will reward the top failures with Phoenix Awards.
Please consider sharing your best failure by submitting a proposal here. For full consideration, please submit by Oct. 28, 2026.
The Failure Showcase talks will be from 3 - 5 p.m., and the Phoenix Awards will be presented from 5 - 6 p.m. on Nov. 16 in Moloney Hall.
