You are invited to join us for a translation workshop celebrating the bilingual Kerouac, led by Professor Cloutier. Students will have the opportunity to engage directly with Kerouac’s French-language writing and explore questions of language, translation and Franco-American identity.

No previous translation experience is necessary.

  • Date: Thursday, Oct. 8
  • Translation workshop: 1–2 p.m., O’Leary Library, Room 237

Kerouac Double Feature

The workshop will be followed by a Kerouac Double Feature from 3–5:30 p.m. in O’Leary Library, Room 222.

  • 3–4 p.m.: Steve Edington will present research materials from his book, "Kerouac’s Nashua Connection," to the Center for Lowell History Kerouac Archive.
  • 4–5:30 p.m.: Visiting guest JC Cloutier will discuss his new book, "Big American Writer: The Bilingual Jack Kerouac," which brings Kerouac’s bilingualism to the forefront of our understanding of his work.

The Double Feature is presented in collaboration with the Center for Lowell History and the Jack and Stella Kerouac Center for the Public Humanities.
