Join us for a recycling and confidential shredding opportunity on campus. This is a rain-or-shine event offered to all UMass Lowell community members, including faculty, staff, students and alumni. Materials such as electronics, light bulbs, document shredding and more will be accepted.

Secure Shredding and Recycling Services
Secure shredding and recycling services are available for:
- Confidential paper documents: Tax documents, receipts, mailings or anything with confidential or personally identifiable information. Please be mindful of quantity, as many fellow River Hawks use this service and capacity is limited.
- Hard drives and handheld devices: Cellphones, tablets, MP3 players and PDAs.
- Electronic devices with hard drives or personal information: Laptops, CPUs and similar items are recyclable. They will be handled securely and physically destroyed by our certified vendor.
Responsible Recycling Services
Responsible recycling services are available for the following:
- Computing equipment and accessories: Any handheld devices, laptops, CPUs, monitors, keyboards, mice, cords and wires.
- Audiovisual equipment: Any sound systems, projectors or microphones.
- Appliances: Radios, air conditioners, microwaves and mini-fridges. Full-size appliances will be refused.
- Televisions: Any CRTs or flat-screen TVs.
- Batteries: Any style or size, including car batteries, lithium-ion batteries or rechargeable batteries.
- Ink and toner cartridges: Any style or size.
- Light fixtures and bulbs: Any style.
Please note: Hazardous household goods, such as paint, stain and cleaning chemicals, and construction and building materials, such as wood, plastic and metal, are not eligible for this opportunity.
The Office of Sustainability reserves the right to refuse any items for any reason on-site during the event.
