Join UMass Lowell’s 9/11 Day of Service and Remembrance, inspired by 9/11 Day, a national movement that transforms Sept. 11 into a day of service and unity. This initiative is conducted in collaboration with AmeriCorps and funded through the 9/11 Day Grant Program.

Visit one of our volunteer stations

UMass Lowell will assemble 300 Care Kits for local youth. Each kit will include a swag bag, a brand-new children’s book, an age-appropriate item such as a hygiene product, first-aid item or stress-relief tool, and a bookmark and notes of encouragement.

Faculty, staff, students and community members are invited to stop by our table to:

  • Write or create a positive message to include in a Care Kit.
  • Help assemble kits for distribution to local youth.

Dates, times and location

The Care Kits will be assembled in the Meehan Student Center Atrium on:
  • Sept. 17: 3 – 6 p.m.
  • Sept. 18: 2 – 5 p.m.
  • Sept. 21: 2 – 5 p.m.
  • Sept. 23: 2 – 5 p.m.

If you’d like to donate your own kit to help increase our impact, here are recommended books for donation:

  • "The Gift of Words"

Books can be dropped off at the Student Life and Involvement Office in the Meehan Center, second floor.

Together, we’ll turn remembrance into action by supporting local youth, residents and community partners.
