UMass Lowell students, faculty and staff are invited to participate in free Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) Basic Training. This noncredit program offers hands-on instruction in disaster preparedness, emergency response, search and rescue, first aid, Stop the Bleed, fire safety, disaster psychology and incident management. Participants who complete the program will receive a certificate.

  • Dates: Tuesday and Thursday evenings from Sept. 15 through Oct. 8
  • Time: 6:30 – 9 p.m.
  • Location: Meehan Student Center

  • Sept. 15: Disaster Preparedness and CERT Incident Management
  • Sept. 17: Search and Rescue Operations
  • Sept. 22: Terrorism, Active Shooter and Stop the Bleed
  • Sept. 24: Disaster Psychology, Fire Safety and Utility Controls
  • Sept. 29: Disaster Medical Operations I
  • Oct. 1: Disaster Medical Operations II and Mass-Casualty Incident Exercise
  • Oct. 6: Final Disaster Exercise and Graduation
  • Oct. 8: Make-Up Night
