We love being able to visit your classrooms to support your students. Each semester, we have had to limit the number of classes for which we can provide instruction. We have already reached that capacity for the fall semester. Here is what you need to know:

  • If you requested library instruction and received confirmation by email that you are on the schedule, you are good to go. You will have instruction this semester and do not need to do anything else.
  • If you requested library instruction but have not been confirmed by email as of Aug. 25, 2026, you are not on the schedule. You are, however, on our waitlist as we consider how we might be able to open a few more sections of instruction later in the semester. Yes, continue to send your requests and you will be added to the waitlist.
  • There are resources below that may be helpful to you and your students if you were not able to schedule instruction this semester.

Helpful Resources for Students

  • A game-based video tutorial created by our Immersive Scholar students and student assistants. Although it is in beta testing StartFragment(and, yes, we’d love your feedback),EndFragmentthe content in this tutorial fully guides students through a peer-reviewed database search that shows them how to filter for more relevant results.
  • LibGuides can be searched by subject. Each subject has a general research guide. The research guide highlights the best databases to use for the subject area and provides tips for doing research in the subject area.
  • Your students can still request one-on-one consultations at their leisure. The consultations are usually by Zoom, but we can absolutely meet face to face if needed. Using the form, students can choose the best date and time to meet with a librarian.
  • Students can also contact the library by email or phone.
  • Some students may find the College Writing I LibGuide and College Writing II LibGuide helpful as they address general information about the best resources to use, citations and plagiarism.

Finally, we know that we are asking a lot, but if you would like instruction, please email Yolanda Hood at yolanda_hood@uml.edu so she can add you to the waitlist. The number of unmet instruction requests provides the data we need to advocate for more librarians.
