Streaming Video Links are Changing

Some links to streaming video files on YuJa (previously Ensemble) provided by the UML Library changed this summer and no longer work. This change affects only commercial films on YuJa, not videos authored by faculty or any videos hosted on Echo or Canvas Studio.

To ensure continued access to streaming media for your students:

1. Check the streaming media links in your course that start with “uml.yuja.com.”
2. The message “This video is private” means the video is hosted by the library, and you will need a new link.
3. Search the following library resources:
   • Kanopy
   • AVON (Academic Video Online)
   • Films on Demand

If the film is not available from these resources, use the Suggest a Purchase form to request films. You can use this form to request access to a film for the first time.

Important Notes

• Even if you have used a film previously, the UML Library appreciates two weeks’ notice when requesting films to ensure availability to students.
• Multiple titles may be submitted in one Suggest a Purchase form entry.
• Library staff will explore all academic streaming options to source your film.
• When no academic streaming options are available, staff will consult with you on the best solution for your needs.

Why is this happening?

• The hosting software used for locally digitized media is changing so that the library can better manage its digital media.
• A recent evaluation indicates that many locally digitized films are available in the academic and commercial streaming marketplace, negating the need for a locally digitized file.
