Dear UMass Lowell Community,

It is with gratitude and best wishes that I announce the retirement of Karyn Puleo, effective July 17, 2026, after nearly 14 years of dedicated service to UMass Lowell.

Since joining the university in December 2012, Karyn has been a valued member of the Facilities Management team, serving as Executive Director of Facilities Business Operations and contributing as an adjunct faculty member in the Manning School of Business, where she taught Negotiation Strategy & Process. Through both her administrative and academic roles, she has made significant and lasting contributions to our university community.

Karyn has built strong relationships across campus and has been an active member of the Women's Leadership Committee and Wellness Committee, supporting the growth and well-being of fellow employees. Her commitment to service also extends beyond the university. She currently serves as Chair of the Salvation Army Advisory Committee, Chair of the Lowell Catholic Board of Trustees and represents the Town of Tyngsborough on the Lowell Regional Transit Authority (LRTA) Board and the Northern Middlesex Metropolitan Planning Organization (NMMPO). Her public service also includes nine years on the Tyngsborough Select Board, four years on the School Committee, and service on the Town's 250 Middlesex Road Strategic Visioning Committee.

Throughout her career, Karyn has exemplified the values of UMass Lowell through her leadership, collaboration, generosity, and dedication to helping others succeed. She has been a trusted colleague, respected leader, mentor, educator and friend whose positive impact will be felt for years to come.

On behalf of Facilities Management and the university community, I thank Karyn for her many contributions and unwavering dedication to UMass Lowell. Please join me in congratulating Karyn on her retirement and wishing her happiness, good health, and success in this exciting new chapter.

Sincerely,

Jean Robinson
