The Central Massachusetts Mosquito Control Project (CMMC) will be conducting targeted mosquito spraying on UMass Lowell campuses on Wednesday, June 24, after 8:30 p.m. This work is part of ongoing efforts to reduce mosquito populations and minimize the risk of mosquito-borne illnesses such as West Nile Virus.

Spraying will be performed from the road using truck-mounted equipment. The pesticides used have been evaluated and found to pose minimal risks to human health and the environment when applied according to label directions. While relocation during mosquito control spraying is not necessary, some individuals may wish to take extra precautions.

To minimize exposure, you may choose to:

• Remain indoors during spraying in your immediate area, and for 15–20 minutes afterward (or longer at your discretion).
• Close street-facing windows and turn off the outside air setting on window-unit air conditioners during spraying. You may reopen windows and resume AC use 15–20 minutes after application.
• Keep children away from truck-mounted applicators while they are in use.
• Bring pets indoors when possible or cover outdoor cages during spraying.
• Individuals with chemical sensitivities or health concerns should consult their physician or local health department for additional guidance.

We appreciate your cooperation as we work with CMMC to help maintain a safe and healthy campus environment.
