It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Eugene Barry, Ph.D., professor emeritus of the Department of Chemistry. He passed away peacefully at the age of 81 on May 10, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Barry retired from UMass Lowell in 2013 after 42 years of dedicated service to his department, college and the university community. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 13 at 10 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Church, 216 E. Dunstable Road, Nashua, NH. Additional information is available in
