The STEM Teaching, Educator Learning and Research (STELAR) Team invites you to participate in our final STARBURST STEM-Ed Mini Hackathon of the Spring 2026 semester.
Event Details
- Date/Time: Wednesday, April 22 | 3–4: p.m. (In-person)
- Location: Dandeneau Hall 220, North Campus (virtual/zoom attendance on request)
- Topic: Using AI-LLMs to Generate High-Quality Visual Aids and Learning Tools
Description: This mini hackathon-session will engage participants in developing and enhancing visual content/apps for their courses.
First 15 minutes: You’ll experience/engage with several examples of interactive visuals that faculty have prompted-to-develop to support deeper understanding of course concepts.
- Canvas: developing visual html boosts
- Interactive figures and animated visualizations using Python/MATLAB/etc.
Remaining 45 minutes: Let the mini-hackathon begin! Participants will be challenged to develop a new graphical learning tool/app/visualization for their class(es). At the end of the hackathon, we'll review and discuss our different outcomes/designs/contributions! It should be engaging, challenging, and informative -- and most of all, FUN!
Note: Bring a laptop to engage with the activities. While coding experience is a plus, none is required to engage, learn, and participate.
