Join us for a two-part Arbor Day celebration focused on sustainability, environmental stewardship, and community connection.
Ceremonial Tree Planting
Date: Thursday, April 23
Time: 10 a.m. - noon
To celebrate Arbor Day 2026, as well as UMass Lowell's Arboretum and Tree Campus USA designation, and the City of Lowell’s Tree City USA designation, the university will be planting 15 street trees along Wilder St. in front of Moloney Performing Arts Center. Please come out and help us plant trees. The more the merrier. Event free and open to all.
Arbor Day Activities at the Food Forest (46 Wilder St.)
Date: Friday, April 24
Time: 12:30 – 2:30 p.m.
Connect with fellow students, faculty and staff for an afternoon centered on climate action, sustainability education, and community building. Explore the Food Forest and learn how UMass Lowell is cultivating a more resilient future.
12:30-1:30 p.m. Tree Planting
Join us in planting fruit trees and perennials to expand the Food Forest inventory with new species!
1:30-2:30 p.m. Growing Hope
Write your message of hope and intention for positivity on wildflower seed paper and watch hope grow.
1:30-2:30 p.m. You Rock!
Unleash your creativity and help us brighten the Food Forest through rock painting.
12:30-2:30 p.m. Pizza and Local Produce (while supplies last)
Enjoy a slice of pizza as you explore the Food Forest and take home a bag of delicious, locally grown produce from Mill City Grows.
Parking for both events will be available in the Wilder Staff and Faculty Lot, located at 94 Wilder St.
