As part of the Career & Co-op Center’s suite of student career development, exploration, and support resources, PathwayU represents a major upgrade over previous career assessment platforms. This new tool takes career exploration and planning to the next level by further helping students reflect on and articulate what fulfillment looks like for them. You can get a sense of what students will experience though this 90-second video.
As advising season approaches, PathwayU will be a strategic asset for both students and academic advisors. The platform’s reflective prompts and comprehensive reports can be used to foster rich, meaningful discussions— enabling students to make thoughtful choices about programs and courses that align with their career aspirations and personal sense of purpose. For students who are job searching, PathwayU can help them identify and reflect upon their strengths, how they’ve put these to practice, and how they apply within their career goals. This practice will help students develop stronger resumes and interview with more confidence and clarity about the value they bring to the table.
PathwayU is a valuable resource serving as both a starting point for career exploration and a reflective tool for assessing changing career values and interests after various career-connected experiences. For students who are undecided about their major or career path, PathwayU’s assessment features provide potential majors and career options — including detailed occupational information and suggested courses of study — to help them make informed academic and professional decisions earlier in their college careers. Looking toward the upcoming academic year, this is a tool that can be incorporated as a class assignment to build awareness of and start discussion around strengths, purpose, and careers. If you are interested in applying PathwayU within courses, please email Beth_Loell@uml.edu.
PathwayU enhances the Career & Co-op Center’s dedication to comprehensive career development and supports one of the Chancellor’s mission points focused on expanding career-connected experiences at UMass Lowell. Students can access PathwayU now on the Career & Co-op Center website.
