Mental health is public health. In recognition of National Public Health Week, the UMass Lowell Department of Public Health is partnering with the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP) to host Talk Saves Lives.
Suicide is a leading cause of death, but it is preventable. This essential, one-hour online session provides the UMass Lowell community with the latest research, lifesaving knowledge, and the confidence to effectively engage with others who may be struggling.
In this session, you will learn:
- How to recognize common risk factors and warning signs
- The latest research on suicide prevention
- Practical tips on how to start a conversation and provide support
