Dear Faculty and Staff,
Could your research/department benefit from undergraduate student interns at no cost to your budget?
This year, 220+ Immersive Scholars students (from all colleges) have elected to use their $4000 merit award to pursue research/scholarly work at UMass Lowell - either during Summer 2026 or the 2026–2027 academic year.
Immersive Scholars are pre-selected, high-potential sophomore level students who received a $4,000 merit award to participate in approved experiential learning programs at UMass Lowell.
Program Timeline & Process
There are two work cycles for the program: Summer 2026 and Academic Year 2026-27
- NOTE: You can hire multiple students for each term.
- On March 1, 2026, Immersive Scholar students can begin applying for positions via JobHawk
- While positions may be posted on a rolling basis, faculty are encouraged to post as soon as possible for both cycles to ensure strong applicant pools.
Faculty responsibilities:
- Post position(s) in JobHawk,
- Interview/hire students and
- Approve student hours biweekly
