UMass Lowell's Office of Sustainability is partnering with Casella to showcase our shared commitment to sustainability at Sustainability Hockey Night on Friday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. at the Tsongas Center, when the River Hawks take on the Northeastern Huskies.

Doors will open to the public at 5 p.m. for a Sustainability Mini‑Expo, where fans can explore and meet the organizations driving innovative climate and community solutions.

  • Casella Waste Systems: Learn how recycling innovation and resource management are helping campuses and communities reduce waste and promote a circular economy.
  • Craic Sauce: Sample locally crafted hot sauces made with sustainably grown ingredients and discover how small-batch producers can help strengthen regional food systems.
  • Mill City Grows: Explore community gardening, urban agriculture, and food access initiatives that empower Lowell residents to grow healthier neighborhoods.
  • Weston & Sampson: Engage with engineers and environmental professionals helping communities design climate‑resilient infrastructure and sustainable public works solutions.
  • Rist Institute for Sustainability & Energy: Connect with staff and students driving forward clean energy innovation, campus sustainability projects, and community partnerships.
