We are pleased to share that applications are now being accepted for the 2026 Roy J. Zuckerberg Endowed Leadership Chair, a prestigious, University-wide award recognizing exceptional leadership in service to the University of Massachusetts.

The Roy J. Zuckerberg Endowed Leadership Chair/Prize honors individuals of courage, conviction, and selflessness who have devoted their time and talent to advancing the mission of the University.

The award alternates annually between faculty and staff. In 2026, the Zuckerberg Endowed Leadership Award will be presented to a University of Massachusetts faculty member.

Award Details

  • Total award: $100,000 over two years
  • Annual support:
    • $30,000 each year to support research, teaching, or service linked to demonstrated leadership
    • $20,000 annual award stipend

Award Purpose

The Roy J. Zuckerberg Endowed Leadership Chair aims to:

  • Foster leadership by recognizing faculty of strong character and high standards who have distinguished themselves in service to the university
  • Encourage dialogue and reflection on the importance of leadership to the future of public higher education in Massachusetts
  • Celebrate service and strengthen collaboration across the UMass system

Application Deadline: March 16, 2026
