The College of Fine Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences invites you to the first Dean’s Speaker Series event of the spring semester. Join us on Monday, January 26, at 11 a.m. in Coburn 255 for “Writing to remember: Keeping memories alive “with special guest speaker Rym Khelil.
"Jeunesse à la Fleur (Youth with the Flower)" takes readers into the lives of teenagers navigating their final year of high school amid the violence and insecurity of Algeria in the 1990s. Through their friendships, dreams and quiet acts of courage, the novel reveals how hope and resilience can bloom even in times of darkness. Join us for a conversation on the writing process, the power of memory and why telling our stories is so important.
Born in Algiers in 1983, Rym Khelil holds an industrial engineering degree and a master’s degree in supply chain management. She graduated from the National Polytechnic School of Algiers and the École Centrale de Paris. Passionate about literature, she currently lives abroad and works in the energy sector. "Jeunesse à la Fleur" is her first novel.
This event, which is sponsored by the Department of World Languages and Cultures and the College of Fine Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, is free and open to the public.
