Welcome to December's Human Resources Training and Development Announcements and Offerings!

Trainings to Complete:

Massachusetts State Law requires all public employees to complete Conflict of Interest training every two years. This training is developed by the Massachusetts State Ethics Commission.

If you have not already completed the training, you will receive an email from Vector Solutions stating that you have an assignment to complete. You will use your regular UML credentials to log in.
This training began on Nov. 3, 2025, and was due by Dec. 3, 2025.
The training takes approximately 1 hour to complete.

  • Electronic Personnel Action Form (ePAF) Initiator Training
    Dec. 4, 2025, 10-11 a.m.
    This training session is intended for Department administrators who are responsible for initiating ePAF forms in HR Direct. This training session will cover how to initiate an ePAF to hire/rehire an employee, edit an active employee’s job details, and terminate non-benefited employees.
  • ComPsych - Deskercise! Taking Care of Your Body During the Workday
    Dec. 5, 2025, 10-11 a.m.
    Have you ever felt tired and sluggish at work? Do you notice tension in your neck and back pain in the middle of your workday? Spending many of our waking hours sitting at a desk can lead to consequences for our health. However, it can be difficult to find time to exercise! This training will discuss the importance of not being completely sedentary all day, and review practical, easy ways to take care of your body while working a desk job.
  • Electronic Additional Compensation (eAddlComp) Training
    Dec. 11, 10-11 a.m.
    This training session is intended for Department administrators who are responsible for initiating electronic additional compensation forms. This training session will cover how to initiate a form, edit pending forms, approve forms, and view forms.
  • Search Committee Training
    Dec. 11, 10-11 a.m. (FULL) Be on the lookout for 2026 dates!
    In this training, participants will gain an understanding of the roles and operating principles of the Search Committee as well as understand how a strategic search process is conducted.
  • ComPsych - Managing Holiday Stress
    Dec. 18, 1-2 p.m.
    The approaching holiday season brings many expectations. Often, this makes us feel like we are being pulled in a hundred different directions. There are office parties to attend, family get-togethers to schedule, children’s holiday recitals, and gifts to buy. The holidays can be one of the happiest times of the year, yet it can also be one of the most stressful. Maintaining balance and keeping stress from overwhelming you are the keys to an enjoyable holiday season.
    This workshop provides an overview of common stressors people encounter during the holidays, and offers “stress buster” tips to help you get the most possible enjoyment out of the season.
