As we celebrate Thanksgiving, please keep fire safety in mind to protect yourself and our campus community:
- Stay in the kitchen when cooking—unattended cooking is the leading cause of fires.
- Keep flammable items (towels, paper, decorations) away from stovetops and ovens.
- Check smoke alarms in your residence hall or apartment to ensure they are working.
- Use caution with candles—consider flameless alternatives.
- Never overload outlets or use damaged cords for holiday lights or appliances.
- If a fire occurs, call 911 immediately and activate the nearest fire alarm.
