Abstract: Dustin Wertheimer will be delivering a seminar on October 30 on the current state of the power industry in the United States, providing perspective from his 25-year career in finance, operations and construction in the power and data center industries. Dustin will provide a high-level overview of deregulated power markets and the economics surrounding power plant construction and operations.
Dustin will then discuss the impact on the power industry of the exponential growth in demand created by Ai datacenters. Looking closer at the impact on power/capacity prices, the forecasted timing of that growth, how the industry can try to meet that demand timeline, the impact on the global supply chain and what technologies are best suited to meet the increase in demand.
Dustin will explore the change in perspective on nuclear power, the advantages of nuclear power, along with the current wave of interest in new nuclear. He will look at potential policy actions that are impacting generation and conclude with a discussion of what opportunities may be available in the power industry.
Biography: Dustin Wertheimer is the President of DWW Consulting and a Partner with the ASG Team, currently utilizing his 25 years of experience in the power industry to find solutions to the power shortage that is challenging the expansion of the data center industry.
Prior to his current roles, Dustin led the design and construction of Cumulus Data’s one gigawatt digital campus directly connected to a nuclear power plant. Dustin held ultimate responsibility for all aspects of the project including the design, development and construction. The campus was sold to Amazon in March 2024.
Prior to his role at Cumulus Data, Dustin spent 8 years at Talen Energy in several roles including Chief Financial Officer for Susquehanna Nuclear, Vice President - Risk, Director of Portfolio Analysis, and led the integration of 13 power plants into Talen as part of the initial spin-merger that formed the company.
Prior to the formation of Talen, Dustin spent 14 years at PPL Corporation, leading the Finance function of the deregulated generation and energy marketing division along with several other leadership roles. Before joining PPL, Dustin worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP.
Dustin is a Certified Public Accountant with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from King’s College and a Master of Business Administration degree from Lehigh University.
