I’m thrilled to share that UMass Lowell (UML) has officially launched Designing the Future — a bold $250 million fundraising and engagement campaign that will shape the next chapter of our university’s story.
This historic initiative will expand scholarships and student programs, provide paid internships, elevate our standing as a Research 1 university and establish the Lowell Innovation Network Corridor (LINC) — a hub of innovation, culture and commerce that’s transforming our community.
The campaign, which runs through June 30, 2028, had already secured nearly $166 million in donations by its official launch on Oct. 16. It marks the university’s second comprehensive fundraising effort. The first, Our Legacy, Our Place, launched in 2013 and concluded in 2020, surpassing its goal with a total of $165.2 million raised.
Your Role in Designing the Future
Our faculty and staff are the heart of UMass Lowell, and your ongoing support is essential to our success. I invite you to take part in Designing the Future by:
- Learning more about the campaign by reading our recent press release, watching our campaign video and exploring the Designing the Future website.
- Participating in upcoming events and initiatives throughout the year and spreading the word about the campaign.
- Making a donation to the Course Materials Access Fund, the UML Strive Food and Resource Pantry or an area of campus most meaningful to you. You can give online or give through payroll deduction.
As part of the campaign launch, we’re introducing the Course Materials Access Fund, an initiative to help students who face financial barriers in purchasing required textbooks and course materials. A donation of $100, or just $4 per pay cycle, can provide a book for a student in need.
Thank You
UMass Lowell’s success is built on the dedication and commitment of our faculty, staff and alumni. Thank you for the many ways you advance our mission, support our students and strengthen the university community. Together, we are truly designing the future of UML.
