The UML Office of Life Safety & Emergency Management, in collaboration with our partners, is excited to announce that FREE Campus Emergency Response Team (CERT) training is now available for UMass Lowell students, faculty, and staff this fall!
CERT training offers valuable benefits by providing you with essential emergency preparedness skills. Through hands-on training in areas like first aid, fire safety, and disaster response, participants gain the confidence and ability to handle crises effectively. Beyond immediate safety, CERT fosters teamwork, leadership, and communication skills that are transferable to both personal and professional settings. This program not only enhances campus safety but also empowers participants to take an active role in their community's well-being.
Schedule: Training will occur on Tuesday and Thursday nights from 5:30-8 p.m. at the Tsongas Center.
Here’s a sneak peek of the topics covered:
- Oct. 7 - Disaster Preparedness and Stop the Bleed
- Oct. 9 - Fire Safety & Utility Controls
- Oct. 14 - Terrorism, Run/Hide/Fight, and CERT Organization
- Oct. 16 - Disaster Medical Operations Part 1 and Hands Only CPR
- Oct. 21 - Disaster Medical Operations Part 2 and Disaster Psychology
- Oct. 23 - Light Search and Rescue
- Oct. 28 - Final Disaster Exercise and Graduation
This is an excellent opportunity to gain critical skills, build community connections, and prepare for emergencies. Plus, all graduates will receive a certificate of completion.
