Welcome back, River Hawks. As you settle into campus life, please keep these important fire safety reminders in mind:
- Do not overload electrical outlets. Use surge protectors and avoid connecting multiple power strips together.
- Never leave cooking unattended. Stay in the kitchen while using stoves, ovens, or hot plates.
- Keep fire doors closed at all times. They are designed to prevent the spread of smoke and flames.
- Do not use candles or incense in dorms. Use flameless alternatives when possible.
- Know your building’s evacuation routes and emergency procedures.
- Do not tamper with smoke detectors, fire extinguishers, or other fire safety equipment.
Stay safe and look out for more safety tips throughout the semester.
