Federal research grants now require research security training for individuals involved in federally funded research and development (R&D) projects. This requirement, stemming from NSPM-33, ensures researchers are aware of and trained on issues like cybersecurity, foreign travel security, and responsible international collaboration.

When completing or updating your Annual Disclosure, you will now be required to complete the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) Research Security Training module. This module covers essential topics such as handling sensitive data, reporting security incidents, and understanding the security obligations tied to federally funded research. This is part of the broader initiative to maintain integrity and security in all federally supported research endeavors.

Please ensure that you complete the training before attempting to submit your Annual Disclosure. NOTE: Training does not upload into RES the same day the certificate is completed, please allow 24 hours before clicking “Update Disclosure.”
