If you’re looking for a nice spot to relax in Lydon Library, we now have a bright and comfortable reading nook on the first floor!

Located outside of Lydon 110, you will find our new Book Love collection of popular books, the puzzle table, and arm chairs where you can sit and relax with a good book.

This nook was made possible by a generous donation from Cheryl and Paul Katen. Their donation also made it possible to refresh the second floor Katen Commons. The Katens met and fell in love in Lydon Library in the 1960s when they were students. Their love of UMass Lowell and libraries led them to donate the money to build the Katen Commons and maintain the popular space for studying.
