Due to great interest and presenter spots added, we are extending the abstract submission deadline for the Student Research and Community Engagement Symposium to Monday, February 24, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. We are still encouraging students to submit as soon as possible because spots are still limited and filling up quickly.

The annual competition will be held at University Crossing on Tuesday, April 1, 2025 and is open to all UMass Lowell undergraduate and graduate students interested in presenting their research, service learning projects, co-op/internships, study abroad experiences, creative works, and other academic endeavors.

Student participants must choose between an oral presentation or poster presentation. To learn more about the participation tracks, please visit the Student Research and Community Engagement Symposium website.

Why participate?

The Student Symposium is the perfect opportunity for students to practice and enhance their presentation skills. Participants have the opportunity to share their work with professionals who can provide valuable feedback and advice. Judges are comprised of corporate and community partners, alumni, university leadership, and faculty. The event is a great networking opportunity for all students.

Also, winners of the competition receive a cash prize! Each college will award at least one undergraduate and one graduate student or team as winners for both tracks. Winning individual submissions and team submissions will receive $200. In addition, we will select Fan Favorite winners who will receive $100 as both individuals and teams.

How do I participate?

The first step for students to enter the competition is to submit an abstract (up to 250 words) using the abstract submission form via InfoReady before the deadline on Monday, Feb. 24, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. Abstracts will need to be approved by a faculty or staff advisor. Students should consider submitting their abstract as soon as possible. The competition this year is first come, first serve as the number of participants is limited.

Faculty, please encourage your students to participate in this amazing event.
