The Safer Choice Partner of the Year award is given to organizations that demonstrate leadership in the design, manufacture, and promotion of safer products.
“I want to congratulate this year’s Safer Choice Partner of the Year award winners for going above and beyond to protect public health and the environment and to show their support for making products with safer ingredients accessible for all people,” said EPA Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention Deputy Assistant Administrator for Pollution Prevention, Jennie Romer.
TURI was selected for its dedication to advancing the use of safer chemicals and reducing toxic substances through assisting product manufacturers with obtaining EPA’s Safer Choice certification.
“We are honored to receive this award from EPA,” Director of TURI, Baskut Tuncak. “It is a testament to the hard work and dedication of our one-of-a-kind laboratory team, which has helped countless businesses reduce their use of hazardous chemicals and improve the safety of their products and processes.”
TURI has been a leader in the field of Toxics Use Reduction for over 30 years, working with businesses, academic institutions, and government agencies to promote the use of safer chemicals and technologies. The institute’s efforts have helped companies across a wide range of industries reduce their use of hazardous substances, while also improving their economic competitiveness and environmental performance.
“We are proud to partner with EPA in our shared mission to promote safer chemicals and products through the Safer Choice Program,” said TURI Laboratory Director, Jason Marshall. “TURI’s innovative approach to Toxics Use Reduction has had a positive impact on the environment and public health, and we are excited to be recognized for our contributions with this award.”
As the 2024 Safer Choice Partner of the Year, TURI will be recognized at an awards ceremony at a later date and featured on EPA’s Safer Choice website. The institute will also have the opportunity to showcase its work through a video message and share best practices with other organizations and businesses dedicated to promoting safer chemicals and products.
