Are you interested in supporting a more inclusive work environment at UML?
Apply to Become a Faculty Bystander Workshop Facilitator!
All faculty are invited to apply to become an official UML Bystander Workshop Facilitator. If you are interested in this meaningful and exciting opportunity, please submit your notice of interest by September 18.
Background
The UML Bystander Workshops are designed to help peers develop the capacity to intervene effectively when they witness microaggressions. The workshops grew out of the NSF-funded ADVANCE WAVES Initiative, now continuing in coordination with the Office for Faculty Equity and Resilience (OFER). Human Resources is collaborating in the expansion to offer new workshops for staff and graduate research assistants in addition to the faculty workshops.
The commitment: This is an opportunity to have high impact for a moderate commitment of time and energy. A Train-the-Trainer Workshop – facilitated by Karoline Evans, Meg Sobkowicz-Kline, and Meg Bond – is scheduled for October 11th and 18th (9am-2pm, lunch provided). All new facilitators will be expected to attend both days of training and be available to co-facilitate ~ 2 workshops each year. You will be joining a dynamic cohort of other faculty and staff peer trainers!
For any questions: Please feel free to contact any of the Bystander Train-the-Trainer Workshop facilitators: Meg_Bond@uml.edu,Karoline_Evans@uml.edu, or Margaret_SobkowiczKline@uml.edu.
Deadline to express interest: September 18
