As learning, teaching and working become more flexible, the university is creating new spaces to help students, faculty and staff make the most of their time on campus.

Two dozen new “hoteling” stations are now available in rooms 100 and 105 on the first floor of the Graduate and Professional Studies (GPS) Center, located at 839 Merrimack St., across from University Crossing.

Students, faculty and staff can reserve a private workspace for an hour, or even a full day, on the 25Live booking platform. A workspace can also be booked on the spot by scanning its QR code.

The stations are available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. A UCard is required to access the rooms.

Each workstation is equipped with a power outlet, and a half-dozen of the stations have large computer monitors. There are several open tables, with seating for up to four people, available in each room, as well as WiFi.

Room 100 has 15 bookable stations and three open tables; Room 105 has eight bookable stations and two tables.

Facilities Management will soon be adding several lockers to each room, which will be available for day use.

If the workstations prove popular, the university may add more hoteling locations on North and South campuses, according to Maria Morrissey, project executive for Facilities Management.

“We’re trying to make it a space where anyone, not just remote workers, can come in and utilize it,” Morrissey says.
