All student departmental and financial aid jobs must be processed through JobHawk. Beyond departmental operating and discretionary funds, student employees hired using faculty start-up funds (FSU), research investment funds (RIF), and individual or corporate gifts processed through Advancement are considered departmental hires. Whenever a departmental hire goes through JobHawk, Student Employment generates an ePAF that flows to the department for approval and then to HR/Payroll for processing; ePAFs for financial aid jobs go directly from Student Employment to HR/Payroll. (Note: JobHawk is not used for hiring Teaching Assistants, Research Assistants, and student employees whose salary will be covered on funds administered by the Office of Sponsored Programs.)
As of June 2024, JobHawk is also used for timekeeping and time approval for student employees who are hired through that system.
To ensure a smooth hiring process, please post all departmental jobs via JobHawk. Additionally, ePAF changes for students in departmental roles need to be routed through Student Employment as well. HR/Payroll will not process ePAFs or ePAF changes for departmental jobs that are not submitted by Student Employment.
Should you have any questions related to Student Employment and/or hiring via JobHawk, please reach out to student_jobs@uml.edu and a member of the Student Employment team will be in contact with you.
