April 7-13 is National Student Employment week, as declared by the National Student Employment Association.
This week is specifically designated to recognize and appreciate the value of student employees and their contributions as young professionals on our campus.
For many students, the employment opportunities at UMass Lowell are the first step in their career. They come to these roles ready to assist in University operations, help their fellow classmates, make connections and gain new skills and knowledge that shapes the early years of their careers. We see the effort, growth, and value that our students bring to these roles year after year, and we are proud to witness everything they accomplish as a River Hawk.
Please join us in expressing our sincerest gratitude and appreciation for our student employees!
Below are some budget conscious ways you can acknowledge your student staff members during National Student Employment Week this April, and throughout the year. Be sure to tailor these ideas to match the culture of your department!
- Write thank you notes to your students and have all office staff contribute a personal message
- Dedicate a post to your student(s) on your department’s social media page
- Coffee or tea and a tasty treat
- Goodie bags with fidget items, pens & pencils
- Bring them cookies – who doesn’t love ‘em?!
- Decorate the students’ workspace
Please share any photos or videos of your celebrations with the Student Employment Office for use on our website and social media page by emailing Juliana_Gildea@uml.edu
As always, THANK YOU Supervisors, for hiring students for part-time positions and making the student employment program such a success.
