Please join us on Wednesday, Jan. 31 at 2 p.m. in McGauvran, Room 312 for the screening of "Dante" by Pupi Avati (2022).

“The film narrates the poet’s story through the words of Boccaccio, who in 1350 embarks on a journey to find Dante’s daughter. Along the way, Boccaccio retraces the salient episodes of the poet’s life, from his meeting with Beatrice to his friendship with Guido Cavalcanti, from the wars between Whites and Blacks to his entry into politics as prior to his 'endless exile.'

"Woven into the plot, the characters of the Divine Comedy, from Paolo and Francesca to Count Ugolino, emerge in the form of tales collected by Dante along his wanderings. A journey that spans time, between present and past, and together with the deep humanity of the protagonists gives the viewer a splendid gallery of villages, castles, churches and frescoes of central Italy.”

This screening is open to the public and free thanks to the collaboration with The Consulate of Italy in Boston.
