Scott Metcalfe is one of North America’s leading specialists in music from the 15th through the 17th century and beyond. Musical and Artistic Director of Blue Heron since its founding in 1999, he is also a Baroque violinist. He has taught at several universities in Boston.
Guillaume de Machaut (c. 1300-1377) French poet and musician, a master of French versification. One of the leading French composers of the Ars Nova (q.v.) musical style of the 14th century. English poet Geoffrey Chaucer was greatly influenced by his work, and he was esteemed beyond France in Italy, Spain, and much of the rest of Europe.
