"Modeling Shifts in Community Corrections Populations following COVID-19: Evidence from a Midwest Metropolitan Area" will be presented by Jason Rydberg, Associate Professor in the School of Criminology and Justice Studies.

The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic resulted in a variety of short-term strategy shifts by criminal justice agencies, including population reductions, early release from jails/prisons, and the move to remote court proceedings. Years into the pandemic, the impact of how local criminal justice agencies navigated these changes is still coming into focus. In this presentation, Jason Rydberg (CPE Co-Director) will discuss research he conducted, statistically modeling the flow of actively supervised and absconding community corrections populations in a Midwest metro area between 2017 and mid-2022. He will focus on providing an educational discussion of the Bayesian interrupted time series modeling process, and the preparation of reproducibility materials.

The mission of the Center for Program Evaluation (CPE) is to conduct research on program evaluation methods as well as to offer evaluation planning, consulting, training and services for the university, regional, and global community. The CPE offers program evaluation services that support the University’s missions of research, teaching, and service to the community and industry.
