Presenter: Mary Ann Picard, Executive Director for Innovation, Mass Medical Device Development Center (M2D2)

The mission of M2D2 is to act as a lifeline for medical device, life sciences and biotech start-ups. The goal is to provide start-ups with a vibrant innovation ecosystem and access to world-class facilities, industry and academic experts, and a vast array of resources to provide path from proof of concept through to commercialization. M2D2 contributes to economic development in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, and is a joint program between UMass Lowell and UMass Medical School. There are a total of 3 separate facilities providing infrastructure to start-ups, including equipment and resources. In addition to administrative assistance, members receive lab personnel and lab operations support. Mentoring and assistance with federal grant programs is also provided.
