Visibility Campaign in Support of First Generation Students

As part of UMass Lowell’s continuing campaign to raise the visibility of our faculty and staff who were themselves first generation college students or who were not but want to make visible their embrace of the role of “first generation college student supporter” (which we would hope we all are), the First Gen Working Group (a collaborative made up of faculty, staff, and students) is reaching out to the campus community so that our current and future students can see a level of support and shared identity that otherwise might remain invisible. We know this will directly lead to more students accessing campus resources, achieving success, and connecting with us.

To help our students (41% of whom are first gen), we are conducting this brief survey to help implement a visibility campaign so that faculty and staff can more easily be identified as resources for our first-gen students. We will share more information as the campaign gets underway in 2022 and appreciate your support.
